Women In Leadership Foundation (WIL) Announces Kelowna Chapter

Press Release courtesy of the Women In Leadership Foundation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kelowna, BC – Today in celebration of International Women’s Day, Women In Leadership (WIL) Foundation, a national organization committed to advancing women’s leadership, is launching a new chapter in Kelowna.

We could not do this without our Best Employers Program partners; therefore, today, we are recognizing and celebrating partnerships with the BC Public Service, IG Wealth Management, Interior Health and Tolko Industries. Our WIL Best Employers for Women Program is helping employers hire and support a diverse workplace. This is just one of the many programs that are now available to local organizations along with current and emerging leaders.

Only 3% are Chief Executive Officers are women and only 16% hold board seats. It is proven that a gender-balanced team is the best performance model. In addition, there is a significant labour shortage.

"We are very proud to be an Employer Partner of the Women In Leadership Foundation supporting and inspiring women. A large number of our amazing health-care providers are women and our goal with the support of WIL is to help them also become great health-care leaders."
- Monika Astofooroff, Recruiter - Executive/Non-Contract, Recruitment Services, Interior Health

"IG Wealth Management is proud to be a part of this important movement. Our senior leadership is committed to providing the resources and support to empower female leadership in financial services. IG also believes that through education comes opportunity and we have committed to retaining our top spot by having the most Certified Financial Planning (CFP) advisors in the country."
- Karen Erickson, Senior Financial Consultant, IG Wealth Management Group

“Building a diverse and inclusive workforce is in the best interest of all organizations as we face the future. At Tolko, our goal is to become the employer of choice in the forestry sector and an inclusive workplace that encourages diversity and unique perspectives will help us attract and retain the best and brightest to our workforce and foster innovative ideas. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far with our Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, and we look forward to continuing our journey."
- Tanya Wick, VP People and Services, Tolko Industries

Each of us has the power to make a difference. WIL is about working together to get there.
