Tolko's Sustainable Forest Management standard is endorsed by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) international. PEFC is the world’s largest forest certification organization.
Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI)
The Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®) program works to improve forest management across the United States and Canada through certification that promotes sustainable forest management, including measures to protect water quality, biodiversity, wildlife habitat, species at risk and Forests with Exceptional Conservation Value. The SFI standards, Sustainable Forest Management and Fibre Sourcing, have strong acceptance both globally and in North America, allowing us to ensure our customers that Tolko wood products are from legal, responsible sources.
The Wood Procurement Program is an outreach tool for landowners supplying wood to Tolko from North American forests. The Program provides guidance for managing forestlands consistent with SFI Program Principles and Objectives. Tolko also encourages forest landowners to participate in forest management certification.
A description of the Program can be found below.
Chain of Custody (CoC)
Tolko’s woodlands operations, manufacturing plants and Marketing and Sales departments are certified to the PEFC CoC standard. This provides our customers with confidence that the wood used for our forest products is verified from legally authorized and socially-acceptable sources.
