Tolko Innovation Award donation supports people in need

Tolko’s Marketing & Sales team has awarded $1,000 to the North Okanagan Youth & Family Services Society (NOYFSS) for their efforts in removing physical, mental, language or cultural barriers for people in need.

Alex Langley, Tolko’s Domestic Lumber Sales & Marketing Manager, presented the award money to the Director of Business & Fund Development at NOYFSS, Dean Francks, after Tolko’s Marketing & Sales (TMS) team won the Innovation Award this spring.

The TMS team was recognized internally for implementing strategies that diversified Tolko’s customer base and improved the balance of supply and demand, resulting in better selling prices for the company.

As a part of Tolko’s Community Investment Strategy, the team was given the opportunity of donating this cash award to a local organization of their choice, so the team chose NOYFSS for its wide-reaching services for individuals of all ages throughout the community.

NOYFSS will be using the award money towards the construction of a new group space and education room that will be available for communities in the North Okanagan.

The group spaces will be used for programs that build self-esteem among teens, teach active parenting, resolve bullying and parent-teen conflict, just to name a few.

“These groups and services are offered at no charge to the participant and are in very high demand,” says Dean. “We are very appreciative of the support from Tolko and the entire community to help make such an important project become a reality.”
