Tolko supports Okanagan Indigenous youth programs

Tolko is proud to sponsor a new summer camp program for Okanagan Indian Band (OKIB) youth. The OKIB’s youth camp program will offer training in several areas, including leadership, wilderness safety, connecting with the land, wellness, cross-cultural training and teamwork.

Tolko is supporting the program by donating backpacks filled with flashlights, journals, hats, sunglasses, water bottles and other supplies for about 20 youth ages 13-17. Tolko’s Justin Giddens, HR Business Partner and Tanya Wick, VP People and Services, were there to present the backpacks and meet a few of the youth who will be attending the camp.

Tanya says, “I’m really pleased to be here on behalf of Tolko to help support this summer camp, and I want to thank the Okanagan Indian Band for having us and for the warm welcome.”

The OKIB’s future goal is to develop a sustainable camp that will provide youth with learning opportunities and fun activities year-round.
