Tolko’s Quest Wood Division is helping to rebuild part of the historic Telegraph Trail in the Cariboo with a donation to the Back Country Horsemen of BC-North Cariboo Chapter. A lift of 2x10x16’ lumber, valued at $2,000, will be used to rebuild boardwalks and bridges on a section of the trail.
Jason Lightening, Finishing End Superintendent with Tolko’s Quest Wood Division in Quesnel, BC, presented the product donation to Rob Lafrance from the Back Country Horsemen of BC.
The project’s budget of $15,000 (including Tolko’s $2,000 product donation) includes clearing and upgrading along the trail (otherwise known as the Collins Overland Telegraph and Yukon Telegraph Trail) over a 35 km section from Goose Lake to the Blackwater River.
“Our North Cariboo Chapter has been maintaining a 17 km section of this trail over the past three years, says Rob. Due to its popularity, the trail has seen quite an increase in foot and horse traffic in recent years, and it was showing signs of wear and tear.”
“This will bring people to our community and will help strengthen the local economy,” says Jason. “Tolko is proud to be a part of this initiative.”
