Staying the course

A Message to the Community from Brad Thorlakson, Tolko’s President & CEO.

We’ve continued to run safely at Tolko during the COVID-19 pandemic and I’m proud of what we’ve been able to achieve as we prioritize the health and safety of our employees, our families, and our communities. We are maintaining that support as we monitor the ongoing situation and the recommendations of public health authorities.

At Tolko, we take the responsibility for each other’s safety seriously, including employees, families and the communities where we work and live. Our pandemic response team has taken appropriate precautions against the potential exposure of our employees, which will also help keep our loved ones and our communities healthy. Some aspects of our “new normal” that remain in place include:

  • Physical distancing and extra cleaning and sanitizing;
  • Additions to personal protective equipment such as face shields;
  • Working remotely and holding meetings online where possible;
  • Cancelling non-essential business travel and group gatherings at work; and
  • Using a self-declaration form and restricting visitors to our sites unless they have a valid business reason.

Our provinces are discussing when to re-open their economies, and with those decisions, there will be a growing interest in relaxing some of society’s new habits. We have a dynamic pandemic response plan, and we are staying the course for now with the protocols that we’ve put in place. As an essential service, we’ve been able to safely run our operations during the pandemic because of the steps we’ve taken to protect our employees.

We will continue to be diligent and stay informed about the latest developments while communicating with our employees about what they can do to stay safe and healthy. Thank you to the communities in which we work and live for your continued support. We’ll keep updating you on a regular basis.
