August 19 update:
While active wildfire conditions continue to force evacuations in the Okanagan and Shuswap areas, fire suppression has been mobilized to water and protect Tolko’s Lake Country operations. While the site is not at immediate risk, operations have been shut-in as a precautionary measure. Production will not resume until it is safe to do so.
Tolko’s emergency response team is engaged to provide centralized support to impacted operations and workforce as required. The current wildfires mean that many of our employees will be personally impacted either by evacuation orders, evacuation alerts, or supporting friends and family who may have been evacuated. Employees should monitor TNet and Tolko’s Facebook page for any Tolko-specific updates.
A reminder that Tolko’s Employee Family Assistance Program (EFAP) remains available 24-7 for employees and their dependents to request confidential support at 1-800-663-1142.
Tolko is actively monitoring active wildfire conditions in the Okanagan and Shuswap areas and our thoughts are with everyone who has been impacted as a result. The safety of our workforce is our top priority — those in the area should stay aware of any evacuation alerts and respond to evacuation orders from local authorities as required.
Please keep following the Kelowna Facebook page and the Tolko Facebook page for the most up to date information. A public information line is available at 250-469-8490 or 1-877-569-8490, and a resource page to support emergency livestock evacuation has also been set up and is available here if required.
