Strength in our history and our adaptability

A Message to the Community from Brad Thorlakson, Tolko’s President & CEO.

As we work through these challenging times, our primary focus at Tolko remains the health and safety of our employees. We are also preparing for potential business impacts of the pandemic so we can continue to run as long as it is safe and practical to do so. These current conditions may last for some time, but we’re going to see our way through.

Since 1956 when Tolko was founded, we’ve made it through recessions, natural disasters and countless other tests. We’ve experienced the cyclical nature of the industry throughout our history, and we’ve always proven that we have the will and the resources to jointly succeed. We have a plan and we’re here for the long term.

One of the strengths of our company is our ability to make changes and quickly adjust during a crisis or tough times. We’ve been able to do that while continuing to run safely — a testament to the engagement and commitment of our employees. We take pride in that.

The way we do business has prepared us well for the recent challenges; we make decisions based on our values and grow our own by cross-training and developing employees. Ultimately, it’s each of our employees who make the difference. With their perseverance and flexibility, we are making the temporary “new normal” work so we can get through this hurdle successfully as a company and as a community.

I know that dealing with change demands a lot from employees and their families. I want to thank our employees for their continued effort and dedication. Everyone is pulling together, staying focused, and doing important work as an essential service to safely and efficiently make quality products for our customers.

We are facing this challenge together and we will succeed together — as we have throughout our history.
