Trevor Jahnig, CFO and VP of Finance at Tolko Industries Ltd., presented a cheque to Diane Entwistle, CEO of the Okanagan Boys & Girls Clubs on May 31 in Kelowna, BC.
“Thank you, Tolko,” says Diane. “Thanks to the generous donation of $ 7,000 from Tolko, Teen Junction continues to offer engaging programming, access to food and other resources, and most importantly, a space for youth to feel a sense of safety and belonging.”
“It was a privilege to present the Okanagan Boys & Girls Clubs the donation,” says Trevor, adding that the clubs “provide an invaluable service to youth in the Okanagan.”
This is the second donation coming from Tolko in May. Earlier in the month, the company’s senior leaders built five playhouses for families, randomly chosen by the Okanagan Boys & Girls Clubs, and three for the Vernon and Armstrong Boys & Girls Clubs.
The Boys & Girls Clubs provide a safe and supportive place where youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships, develop confidence and skills for life.
“This fits well with Tolko’s Community Investment Strategy to support our communities and focus on youth at risk,” says Trevor.
“Together we are helping young people in the North Okanagan to grow, strive to meet their potential and feel engaged in their community,” says Diane. “Tolko is an important partner in our work to make a difference in the lives of young people who need us the most.”
