April 30, 2009—Tolko Industries Ltd. announced temporary curtailment of their lumber operation in Armstrong, BC, due to a continued lack of demand and product take away. The shutdown is scheduled for one week, beginning May 4th, 2009.
This curtailment will affect 185 employees at the Armstrong facility and remove approximately five million board feet from the marketplace.
“We regret the impact this will have on our employees and their families,” said Plant Manager Pat Donnelly. “We acknowledge our employees’ hard work and their significant contributions toward improving productivity and reducing costs.
“We look forward to resuming operations at our earliest opportunity.”
